QUIET DAYS

Our Saturday Quiet Days have a strong grounding in liturgy and monastic traditions of contemplative prayer. In early 2020, these sessions will take place as follows:

Saturday 18th January: Simple Quiet Day, including contemplative prayer with music, led by Claire Sillince in the 10.30-12.30 session, focussing on an Epiphany theme.

Saturday 14th March: A Simple Quiet Day for Lent.

Simple Quiet Days

These days are intended to provide you with the space to “be” before God; to relax, reflect and pray and so to renew your spiritual resources. The space available will be kept as quiet as possible.

The day will begin at 10 am (beginning with the Eucharist ) and close at approx 3.45pm after common prayer. Please bring your own lunch: drinks are provided.

Outline

10am – Eucharist with reading and resources offered for use during the day
12:30pm - Midday prayer
3:30pm - Gathering together and prayer
3:45pm - Depart

The programme is kept simple to provide maximum space. Use what is offered in so far as it is helpful. Participants are free to come and go at times to suit themselves during the day or to stay all day.

These days are open to all whether on a regular basis or as a one-off.

During the afternoons Richard our parish priest will usually be available to meet with you on a one to one basis.

Dates

Usually the third Saturday in the month.

Saturday September 21st
Saturday October 12th
Saturday November 16th
Either Saturday December 14th or 21st (to be confirmed).

Library

We have a reasonably good collection of books – mostly from the Christian contemplative tradition- that can be used during these sessions.

We will also provide some basic writing and drawing materials for reflective writing or art work.
