ORGAN REBUILD 2018Due to a generous recent legacy to the church, we have been able to go ahead with major work on the organ which has been due for a number of years. The work will include the replacement of the mechanical switching system with a digital equivalent, the cleaning of all the organ pipes, the addition of pipeless stops on a “Swell” division, with the current pipe stops being moved to the “Great” division, a piston capture system and a record/playback facility. A full stop list is shown below. Firstly, here are pictures of the organ being taken down, from February 2018.

The organ spent some time in Sixsmiths Organ Builders workshop in Mossley, before returning in May 2018. Here are some photos of its return:
